Katie Gibbs is the "Cinderella" character of the movie. She is portrayed by Lucy Hale.

Story[]

Katie lives with the Van Ravensways after her father died due to unknown causes. This includes her stepmother, Gail, stepsister, Bev, and stepbrother, Victor. She was not treated like family and was more of a servant to them, and did all their bidding in fear that they might put her into foster care. Katie is very talented at singing and songwriting. Gail, her stepmother, is the principal at a performing arts school (Wellesley Academy of Arts) that Katie and Bev attend. After a well-known music producer, Guy Morgan, lets his son Luke attend her school, Katie sneaks her demo into Guy's briefcase when he visits.

However, Gail wants Bev to land a recording contract with Guy. Gail soon realizes that Bev is a terrible singer and gives up hope. After listening to Katie's demo, Guy calls Gail, wanting to recruit Katie, however Gail lies, and says the demo is actually Bev's, and that Katie stole it. Gail then blackmails Katie into singing for Bev; she does this by mentioning foster care and ruining the dreams of her best friend, Angela.

Luke believed he was in love with Bev after he mistakes Katie's voice for Bev's, since he spotted Bev lip-synching to Katie's song, "Make You Believe", in the recording studio at the Wellesley Academy of Arts. Because of this, he pursues Bev further and even writes a song with her not knowing Katie is actually feeding her lyrics through a headset. Victor realizes that he loves Katie throughout all of this after seeing her in distress, so him and Tony, his mom's spirit guru, formulate a plan to sabotage Bev's performance.

During the showcase, Luke found out it was Katie's voice the whole time and that Bev never sang at all. To give Katie justice, he managed to steal a camera and film Katie in front of the audience at the talent show. After the audience realizes Bev has been faking her performance, they cheer Katie on to continue the performance and she does so. Luke was asked by his father, Guy Morgan, to work with her on her album much to her joy. At the end, Katie is then shown to be the real singer and kisses Luke implying that she and him are now dating.
